Recap on 2015

12 01 2016

2015 was “Bigger Than Ben Hur”. It seems as though the West End Hotel has become “Ukulele Central” with attendance growing every Tuesday night. Outside of our regular meetings, under the guidance of John Lawn and Donna Marhin, our community recitals have grown considerably. Here’s the rundown.

Masonic Home, Social “Play in the Park”, Garden Settlement, Blind Society, South Townsville Bowl’s Club, Jam Sessions – Alligator Creek Sports Club, Rasmussen Markets, RSL – War Widows, Home Brew Festival – Magnetic Island, Cross Roads – Mt Louisa Uniting Church, Cancer Fund Raiser Morning Tea, Friendship Club, Lantern Parade – Swagman Float, Bayz Dayz Festival – Magnetic Island, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, St. Mark’s Anglican Church – Missionaries Fundraiser, Magnetic Island Community Care, Mayor’s Xmas Tree Launch – City Centre Stage, Dementia Carers – Brothers League’s Club, Prostate Cancer Support Group – RSL, Mayor’s Xmas Tree Appeal – V8 Track, Ukulele Xmas Party- Hangi hosted by Irene and Xmas Carols along the Strand.

Others travelled afar to the Ukulele BBQ weekend at Kuranda, Norfolk Island’s Ukulele Festival and a visit to the Newcastle Ukestra.

2016 is shaping up to be a very active ukulele year here in Townsville, elsewhere in Australia and in the Pacific.
